About

Dr. Troutman began his veterinary career as a small animal emergency veterinarian in Hickory, NC.  He subsequently did a residency in anatomic pathology followed by a post doc working at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine where he and a resident were first to describe West Nile virus in farmed alligators. This was followed by a 6-year stent at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where Dr. Troutman worked as a investigative pathologist. Most recently, Dr. Troutman worked at W. L. Gore & Associates for 10 years as a Senior Veterinary Pathologist from 2014-2024. He has broad interests in diagnostic pathology including the pathology of wild and exotic animals, avian, livestock and companion animals. Dr. Troutman is also a verified cat lover.
